Cable companies, ****ing cable companies. Comcast, equally as shit and frustrating as Telewest were when I used them in London. _________________

Just found out that the "buyers" of my house have put in an offer on another property (which has been rejected). No wonder they don't want to exchange yet if they are still seriously considering other houses. It's getting beyond a joke now because we have a completion date agreed for 2 weeks today!!! |

Poor Ardee - I'd be livid were I in your shoes.
The UK housebuying process came as a huge shock to me. In the US, once your offer has been accepted, you have to put down a deposit to hold it(can't remember how much, but seem to recall it being about $2k the last time.) Buyer can then back out of the sale - but they lose their deposit, and seller is legally obligated to complete with you, unless extraordinary circumstances prevent it. Gazumping is non-existant, as is the sort of faffing about that you describe.
I've heard that the UK are looking to implement a similar sort of system - hope they do! Would make life so much easier for both buyers and sellers! _________________ "Take advantage of her being in a wheelchair while you can, mate - 'cos that's the only time you'll be able to push her around!" -Barry H |

Good luck with the move. I'm moving a week on Saturday anyway even though the house isn't sold yet. We are moving into rented accommodation for a while. Not using a removal company, instead my brother and his girlfriend are helping us. Our move was all arranged before the buyer started mucking us about and it is too late to change things now. So we now have a mortgage and rent to pay and will be unemployed as from Monday until the house is sold. It's not all going that well really! Looks like I will be looking for a temp job once I move. |

Went for yet another job interview today...
...They thought my presentation was excellent (actually, I think it was a bit crap - had to rush it and the links between the last few slides were dubious to say the least ). They were also really impressed with my 'accomplishments' ( ) and would love to have me 'on the team' ....only they can't really see me doing Contracts Management - the job I was being interviewed for (well, to be fair, they got me there cos neither can I ...sounds a bit boring! ...but I need a job )
...so they said they'd flag up with HR to keep me in mind if any Modernisation posts come up (yeah, right... )
...and its back to the drawing board for me
(at least I'm not 'drawing' the dole .......yet!!!!) |

A little, I guess....
...Wouldn't mind getting a bit of the old Redundancy Payout before sloping off to a new job, to be honest ...but not sure that's gonna happen cos they keep coming up with reasons not to pay out... ...at least I get a salary and free time off for interviews ...but that £8K would buy me a nice new bike... |
