Looking forward to getting out of here tonight and playing our gig with the stand in drummer as ours is on Holiday, one Mr Dave Hirschheimer, used to be the drummer for Cradle of Filth!!
Rehearsed with him last week and the bloke is amazing, I might even do a little sex wee during the set _________________ Anything you say may be taken down and used as evidence in a court of law, or boxhill forum!!

WMMST... Unexpected bonus in my wages, and some mileage that I'd forgotten about too - luckily they don't seem to know that bikes are supposed to be paid at 25p rather than 40p _________________

Buying one of these (also Black, 2010 ex demo) as an addition to the Baloo fleet
Sorting the final building regs hurdle on the new house and.... (God willing) exchanging on the same at 16.00hrs today!
A sort of materialistic uplift to the spiritual sad news of the cat this morning. |

Still miss the 1971 Series IIA... he says wistfully... and then I remember the leaky engine, leaky transmission, the window runners rotting, the door tops rotting, the chassis outriggers turning to dust, the rear chassis crossmember rotting, the rear light wiring crumbling, the 70mph downhill with a tail wind pushing, the 19mpg, the lack of driver elbow room, sliding mesh first and constant mesh second meaning double de-clutching to change from 3rd to 2nd, having to remember to every now and then engage the freewheeling hubs to keep a modicum of oil that hadn't leaked splashing round the front axle. It had character dammit
Hope the house transaction goes smoothly _________________

Thank you re the house.
Re the new Defender, it is a real hoot to drive; vague steering, appalling cramped driving position, slow, dreadful rear visibility via the internal mirror / rear window and the turning circle of an oil tanker, but... it has superb character and is like a giant Tonka Toy. I was smiling all the time I was "piloting" it: think of an airship on wheels in terms of driving accuracy. Mind you, it will still take out most cars in an impact (even if the driver does not survive due to no airbags or crumple zones) and run rings around other 4x4s off road.
Top speed is limited (like all good sports cars ) to a mind numbing 82 mph! |

Have they got the option to lock the front and rear diffs now, or just the centre one still?
There are good reasons they kept the basic format the same since 1948 or whenever they first copied the Willys Jeep
Interesting that they limited the speed to 82 , the 110 V8 that the old man had was easily good for 110mph plus, even when towing.... although you could see the petrol gauge moving, which given how much it cost to fill was rather depressing _________________

Don't know about the diff lock Re fuel, it is powered by the 2.4 litre Transit diesel engine nowadays. Apparently around 27mpg. I beileve the V8 was a Defender 50th birthday special. |

I don't think axles diff locka are standard. You can spec them as an extra. The center diff will be lockable. The axle locks only really come into their own if you cross axle it and you have to be a right numpty to do that or if Rock Crawling is one of your past times.
The lump is easily derestricted and any Super Chips franchise will be able to do it. It won't give a massice increase in speed but the torque that is released is very useful if you tow anything of a great weight.
Look at the LRO or Off Roaders Rant Page forums. LRO is more checked shirts and sideburns ORRP is more working mans club. |

WMMST:
Sometimes, there IS a policeman when you need one.
SUSSEX POLICE... or rather the fantastic pair of PC's who stopped for me when I flagged them down on the side of the A264 this evening after I got shunted from behind by a car at a roundabout, and then said car fucked off.
Didn't fall off, didn't drop bike (shame otherwise would have stopped for longer) and it's rideable coz I brought it home, but could have done without the hassle of reporting it and getting the bike checked over.
Did get the bloke's registration number though. _________________ An open mouth is a straight line to the mind.

After dropping my Lid at boxhill few days ago I replaced my trusty Raid 2 with a brand spanking new....... Raid 2
Brilliant and very friendly service at Helmet City (Thanks to the many who reccomended these guys.
They even managed to substantially undercut the Dobles AND had a much bigger selection of lids to try on
Im really chuffed with the artwork on it too _________________ Opinions are like assholes...... Ahhh Fcuk it - YOUR WRONG !!!
