What P*** me off today was to be told that to fix my Transit would be £2,500.00 main dealer, Local Mechanic £850.00 with second hand parts, still shite loads Sad
Anyone got a Fuel Injection Fuel pump laying about, to fit 2.0litre Diesel Mondeo lump, that's fitted to these Transits. Rolling Eyes

Have you done a search for Duratorq, which is the generic name for this family of Transit engines. Are you sure it's the fuel pump?

My boss... the Dick... Filled his brand new Diesel volvo POS with Petrol and ran it for a few miles until it stopped.... £3,000 later... oops..

Can't believe that an injection pump is 2.5k Shocked is it common rail?

I filled my (then) brand new diesel Caddy up with half a tank of petrol Embarrassed I then topped it up with half a tank of diesel and used it all day and left it running when out of it as I knew it would never start again. Got below the half tank level and stuck another half tank of diesel in it....

Still running fine 50K later....... I was lucky I guess Very Happy

The £2.5K includes labour Rolling Eyes £1000 for the pump, the local guy is charging £450 for the pump S/H plus his labour, and some gaskets etc.
He is looking himself on ebay tonight to see if he can source a cheaper one for me Very Happy

Petrol in Diesel is usually fine (in older vehicles anyway), even recommended in higher colder places, we used to run 80% diesel 20% petrol in Andorra.

high levels of petrol in new deisel engines destroy the high pressure fuel pump as it relys on the oil base of deisel for lubrication and petrol just dries it out ...i got dead lucky when i recently filled a vauxhall vivaro van with £105 worth of Vmax petrol then run it for 6 miles before it just stopped running ....complete drain down and £115 of deisel later and ya wouldnt have known id done it
