I finally got my results through from my MRI scan with the back specialists i had over a month ago, it was a sit down job, i thankfully dont need surgery but on the flipside i got told there is nothing they can do as the damage has already been done from the impact to my lower spine!
So now ive been refered to the back pain clinic to be advised what pain relief i can get to ease the pain.
I thought that was the worst of it..... i then got told that they have found i have a condition which is called Degenerative Arthritis, it is where the cartilage between the discs in my lower back are starting to degrade and give way!
It was lucky as it has been caught early and if it wasn't for the accident i still would not know now, it has not helped things and is just adding more to it , but at least now i can start having treatment for it, although even starting treatment now there is a high chance i will be in a wheelchair by the age of 40!
Im glad it has been caught early but it is still a huge shock knowing it will only ever get worse and not better! Crying or Very sad

Ya might as well get used to it as car drivers are incapable of realising that anything is or ever could be thier fault

A healthy option might be to consider that it takes 2 to make and accident (sos if that sounds condascending)

Sorry to hear this Matty Crying or Very sad . When I was about 26 I was advised by a specialist that I had the back of a 60 year old! I had worn it to such an extent (he claimed it was because I had ridden/raced a [push] bike too much) that I would be 'incapacitated' by the age of 50.

Well, I'm 54½ now and, apart from the occasional Billy Conelly grunt when standing or bending, still ride my bikes, swim and Lovers , so don't lose heart. Just take each day as it comes. At least you now know the conditions and can act accordingly.

and remember Matty I was told a few years back after my accident that I would probably only have about 30 - 40% movement in my left arm
10 years later and I still ride and haul bikes around for a living, so chin up dude Doctors seem to love worse case senarios

Cheers everyone Very Happy
I know doctors use "scare tactics" to make you think you are worse than you really are as they have done the same to my mum who suffers from osteoporosis. They told her she would be in a wheel chair at 40 as well, 10 years later she is still walking around albeit in pain, but no where near as bad the doctors said she would get.
So im a lot more hopeful, i wont beat it but im gonna fight it all the way Very Happy

Just as a look on the lighter side Matty you always have the knowledge that should the worst ever come to light you know enough people on here to fit the chair with a blade engine and then id like the first parallel two wheeled superchair at boxhill Laughing

Sorry to hear this. And glad you're going to fight it all the way! When I was 18 I had a bike accident (as a pillion) and was told not to ride a bike and that I wouldn't be able to have kids - I now have two and still ride my bike!

Also, when 35 I had an MRI scan on my neck as I was in constant pain and sometimes had trouble walking etc. I had degenerative discs in my neck and osteoarthritis which has resulted in some extra bone growth and a slight 'hump' in my neck. I've had some bad moments - last March I couldn't turn my head at all, couldn't drive etc and was told that I wouldn't be able to ride my bike again. After lots of physio, I was back on it only to be off again in August with shoulder problems caused by arthritis again. Had an op on that in March and was back on my bike in August.

You'll have good days and some bad days but just hang in there!

ok fair coment but in that situation if i haddnt reacted so quick i would be in hospital, i know it takes two to make an acident but sometimes one person can mess up enough for both of you, yes i probably could have been traveling slower because of the blind driveways all down the side of the road but it was rush hour and i was already doing 25mph and if i had been 3 meters ferther forward he would have gone into the side of me. so yes i know you can always avoid an acident if you are alert and expecting one cos thats why im not on shoping for a new helmet now but at the same time i still have the right to be pissed off when someone ruins a perfectly nice ride.

i have been having trouble walking since the accident due to the nerve damage, ive lost some motor control which has made my legs feel heavier and i can only walk for around 10 minutes max before the pain gets too much and i lose feeling in my legs. Confused

The Prick in the pink Taxi on the M2 at midnight who as i approached him decided on what seemed a legitamte move into the centre lane without indicating ...........i moved across to the overtaking lane as i passed .................he continued to come over forcing me onto the grass of the centre reservation Arrrrrgh ( i was in the van had it been the bike id have been off for sure)...........................The CNUT was asleep and only woke due to the draft caused by him being sooooo close. Hair Raising
I continued to watch him after getting back online only to see him weave from lane to lane for another couple of miles what a w***er
dropped in behind him an clocked his reg then proceeded to make a 999 call before he kills someone. Mad
Police are gonna find him and hopefully get the CNUT off the road.

Working on a bike that the rear suspension linkages had not been greased for years. Used blowlamp to try to free bolts, got all out bar one, and the head sheared off of that . Linkage is now soaking in WD40 ! Evil or Very Mad
