The offer I put in on the new house only being partially accepted. They loved the price (I got that bit right) but would not take the house off the market for 4 weeks as I asked for.
If I can sell my London place quickly and the new one is still on the market, they will get a reduced offer now.
To be fair, I would have done the same in the vendor's position, I just do not like a race. |

Just 'phoned to say he's finished work. He should have finished at 4pm and he started at 7am, which meant he was up at 5am. It's 7:45pm now. |
You could always spend the extra time working out how to spend the overtime he's earning. |
Would be a bit unfair really as I earn a lot more than he does. _________________ We are all born mad. Some remain so. ~ Samuel Beckett 1906-1989 |

Fingers crossed. Hope it goes well. Never been in this position as the 3 purchases I've done have all been from a no chain position ie I've never had to sell anything to buy something. If that makes sense. _________________ We are all born mad. Some remain so. ~ Samuel Beckett 1906-1989 |

Unfortunately, what is likely to happen here is the agent will chase up a lower offer cash/no chain buyer and try & get them to match your offer

Agreed, however, it is not yet over.
There have been no offers to date, except mine, and as far as I can tell, not many viewers either. The couple that should have been along after us did not turn up as the house was 'over budget' The open house two weeks ago also producted no interest. someonw will buy it, but like me, they will have a specific and wild imagination.
That is why I will go back now with a lower offer if get any offer on mine soon. It is only bricks and mortor, there will be other houses. |

As we're neatly back on the subject of houses, anyone interested in an update? If not, just skip this post, cos I'm in the mood for updating y'all.
Scenes of Crime found at least two sets of gloved hand prints, so very unlikely they left any ungloved ones. I'm not expecting any further contact from the BiB, only because they don't have anything to go on, not their fault.
Builder has been round to check out the electrics, they're all totally shot to pieces, whole place will need to be rewired. On top of all the carpets, most of the ceilings upstairs and down, most of the floors upstairs (concrete downstairs). Most of my tools nicked, along with other bits and pieces that were there while I was getting the place ready.
Loss adjuster has been doing some more sums, he's set a figure of around £80k to repair the damage caused by some scrotes making off with £500-worth of stolen stuff, possibly less value but I wouldn't know how much nicked things go for.
Could be up to 6 months before the place is ready for sale. Meantime I'm going to have to find the mortgage payments.
Small mercies: no-one was injured (though I hope they fucked their backs getting in and out of the window). The new kitchen I was getting delivered wasn't already there, ready to be trashed by the water.
Big worries: the insurance company still hasn't confirmed to the loss adjusters that they are going to meet the claim. I won't be able to breathe until I've had that confirmed.
Pain in the arse: I had already put in the effort taking out the kitchen ready for the new one, so I can't even claim for a replacement kitchen.
Moral of the story: MAKE SURE YOUR HOUSE INSURANCE IS UP TO DATE!!!
Mood for the day: it's only money, I've still got my health and my family. Incubus has bigger things to worry about so I'm the lucky one. |

£79:00 for a f&^cking mirror for my ZX12 when all it needs is a new glass that actually is held in by double sided tape.
These bike manufacturers really do take the piss _________________ "Those who understand compound interest are destined to collect it.

You used to be able to buy a plastic mirror that came in a flat sheet and you cut it to what ever size was required might save you a fair bit if it is easy to fit to your mirror mechanism. |

It never ends.
Got a flipping puncture (in the car) this morning. Late for school, late for work, and now have to fork out for a new flipping tyre. Must be about the sixth in the last 2 years, so I haven't even had all the wear on the tyre. |

Hearing La Traviata being comprehensively murdered last night at the Royal Opera House by possibly the worst soprano I have ever heard who on earth thinks that the nasal heady sound is pleasing to the ear is misguided, the voice is no where near big enough for the role.
Anyone who knows La Traviata will know that Violetta has one act where she is really dying, sadly that is how the whole role was sung. Universally disappointed by it, the production however is stunning. _________________

If you saw team 2, as I did on Tuesday I agree with you for the first couple of acts. I thought she was okay, however, for the dying scene. Both vocally and in acting.
The lover and father were good, and the set / production amazing.
I was exctremely annoyed with her posture. The constant leaning back to give her voice more boost was really intrusive for me.
This is what I like about this forum, a good spread of culture.
BarryH etc will be annoyed we are not talking about carburetor needles etc. |

That's the point, vocally she sounded like she was dying from the start, the timing was off, and she was flat.

Alfredo & Giorgio were fantastic, Georgio especially. They were applauded, violetta was not...

That's the thing, her posture was strangling her voice, she's supposed to have consumption, not epilpsey!!!
Worse than that was the Maria Carey style finger in the air... Doing it with your finger does not compensate for not being able to do it with the mouth... so to speak.
On the plus side, I had a fantastic rendition of Sempre Libera on the phone this morning by someone who can actually sing it in the manner intended - i.e. excited at being in love. _________________
