Being woken at 6am this morning by a biker reving his or her bike to the rev limiter to warm it up (presumably) and then screaming off on it. What a muppet.

Would have been a right laugh if he'd burst a hose... Laughing

Not being able to get a half day holiday tomorrow, knowing it's going to rain in the eveneing and having to do 120 motorway miles in it.

Half day and I could leave at lunch time in the sun.

Friday evening it's not the rain that bothers me, it's every other work-tired person on the road.... is there an A-road alternative to break the journey up a bit?

Some of the most enjoyable ride's I've had have been in the pissing rain - tis character building Smile

No A road to start with. I've got M25 through to the A12 then A12 all the way to felixstowe. Not really anyway to avoid the mundane commuter route.

Like you say Friday traffic leaving london isn't the most appealing thing either, am well pissed off I couldn't get the afternoon off. I could have got doen to suffolk for mid afternoon and then gone A-road exploring round the Suffolk countryside. I know my way around down there much better than here and know where to find some good routes Smile

Try leaving later. Laughing If you worked until say 20.00hrs the traffic will have died down, along with the rain(?) giving you that great run that you want. Laughing

PS What about the A25?

Was thinking of leaving later but by the looks of the forecast the rain is meant to get worse later and overnigh. Who knows though. Will see tomorrow.

Not really sure the A25 helps me cut out any of the M25 or A12 between Sutton and Felixstowe? Isn't that down near Guildford?

Quality! Adds about 1.5 hours to the journey so I reckon I'll have a play with that route tonight try and work out a bit of a compamise. Nice looking route though, cuts out the whole of the A12 which is not the most entertaining of rides.

Going that way basically tracks the main roads should time or weather dictate you make better progress Smile

Embarrassed I had no idea where Felixstowe was, or indeed the A12, I decided they must be down by Folkestone or similar!

I tend to ignore the UK north of Chelsea and south of Edinburgh. Laughing

Chin up - once I got divorced I had a whale of a time. Took a while to get my confidence back but then I lived the teenage years and early 20s that I never had. Out clubbing until 4am and then up for work at 6 etc. Met loads of different people, did loads of different things and because I was that much older, it didn't matter. Laughing

I used to live in East Anglia - pretty much most of my life. In fact my first biking years were spent in Norfolk & Cambridgeshire.
