Sitting at the airport heading home after a truly great holiday. Temperatures of 80 plus outside and clear blue skies. |

From your description, there was no injury or damage to any one/thing other than to your self. So see if Essex plod want to charge you with injuring yourself. Should make a nice stated case.
I'm sure our current serving officers would add more detail to this. |

£195!!!! I paid £40 to do mine in Norwich. I think they only take people from within Norfolk and on the Norfolk/Suffolk border though. |

If they put you on this course after you had a prang, then I'm thinking it's a Speed Awareness Course (or similarly named) rather than a BikeSafe course. If you can afford it, I think it's worth doing. I had great fun on mine! _________________ You start the game of life with a full pot o' luck and an empty pot o' experience. That's good news, but presumably your summons will say what they are planning on charging you with on it?
Stlll you never know it might be fun _________________

The charge would be careless or inconsiderate driving. They are not saying they would charge but are saying they may consider charging me if I decline the course. |

Hmmm difficult one... If it were me, I would probably say "Stand up in court and prove it then tosspot", but then I am a ballshy fecker the no risk option is to bend over and get shafted I'm afraid _________________

I don't mind doing the course. Quite the opposite in fact just didn't want have to go to Colchester for the thing. Any training is a positive thing I think. |

Do the course - rather than risk an unknown fine and penalty points. Sadly, despite trashing yourself and losing the bike, 'constabulary' have always prosecuted careless driving per se, whether error of judgement or avoiding a road hazard, ending in an accident such as yours. The absence of an independent prosecution witness is also an affront to this procedure so you have my sympathy but not theirs. I often did and still do argue this point on a moral principle but then the law is an ass and well proven by 'senior' officers - whoa there /rant over |

My Mum went down for her operation at about 2pm this afternoon. Apparently she changed her mind about waiting and decided to just go for it whilst she was feeling rested from 2 weeks in hospital.
They reckoned it would take about 6hrs before she's back on the ward, so I'll give them a call later to check that she got 'home' safe. |

Had to take both dogs to vet tonight. Caspar has a problem with his back and Oscar has an infected anal gland. They both had injections and both now need tablets for the next week. Oscar won't be a problem but Caspar is a nightmare.... and we are off on holiday tomorrow so I've got to rely on the kennels and then my parents to get the tablets down him. Oh and it cost me £86 at the vets too. |
