Sounds a bit odd. The fan on mine only ever cuts in on hot days. Even then it's only when I've been stuck in slow moving traffic for a fair while (which is hardly ever Smile) It has never cut in whilst riding on a motorway no matter how hot a day it is.
My suggestion to you would be to either ride faster (more cooling air over the radiator) Smile or get the thermostat checked (probably the cause of the over heating in the first place) after that make sure the mupp... I mean mechanics Very Happy who looked at your bike after the unity ride have reconnected the fan properly. Check the fuses too.

Changed fuse on hard shoulder to see if that helped but it didnt also unplugged switch & re connected with no joy

Last night the M25 was very very stuck and as BSB was kicking out there were loads of us filtering in every single gap between lanes.
Like me most bikes were filtering between 2 & 3 but we kept getting held up too hence bike got too hot. I was more pissed off as I thought I had paid to get this fixed.... not sure if it ever was though as not been stuck like that since Unity!

In that case I would check that fan actually operates when the temp switch is shorted out. As you quite rightly state. If you haven't been stuck like that since the unity ride then it looks like the fault is still there.

Not quite sure how the fan is constructed on your bike V.
But if it's anything like the Pan European, the fan shroud serves as the earth for the fan.
And if like mine, the fan shroud has all but disappeared in a pile of rust, the earth will not be complete, and therefore the fan will not work.
This can only usually be found by taking the whole kaboosh apart.

why would he want to chase you? unless of course you made some gesture or comment to him? You often seem to be at war with other road users, not a good thing IMHO.

+1 Wink Smile

Try & be less "emotive" about things, people being dicks or not looking is not a personal slight on you

Thanks for that...

Yeah, I appreciate I seem to be at war with other road users. That ain't the case, honestly. And in this instance (rare I know) I didn't gesticulate! Think he just had a problem.

As for bein at war, well...think that's partly to do with riding in rush hour all time. By ratio's, I don't get much pleasure riding, most of it's the commute.

I’m glad you have taken this is the right way and recognised in part that you need to change how you might react in a given situation. Commuting on a bike is a totally different experience to going out for as hoon on a Sunday. If you can separate the two then your commute will become more bearable.

I’ve commuted daily on a bike since 1992, using all the busiest roads into London from the south. I ride defensively and think ahead to what a car driver might be doing, most of them are in a rush and will do the unexpected. If they do then hopefully I have given myself enough time to adjust. I’m often overtaken by chav’s on 125 scoots filtering at 40mph. I’ve also stopped a couple of times when they have been knocked off.

Be safe and be happy
Very Happy

Commuting by bike is not fun. I'm so much happier since I've been catching the train to work. Bikes are convenient and probably cheaper than the train however, having to deal with complete muppets on the daily rat run isn't pleasant. I never thought I would say it, but trains are the way forward! Very Happy
