Much appreciated, and thank you. Think they'd have me back? Wink

I'm a local lad though...and that commute was godawful. Hate to even imagine it in icy weather. Shocked

My dog has been in a bad way over the last couple of weeks and its been gradually getting worse and worse. It has got to the point where he finds it difficult to stand up. His back legs just haven't got the strength to lift up.

He has had problems with his back legs and spine for a couple of years and he has been having an injection every 6 months. He doesn't appear in any pain, if anything he seems frustrated not to be able to get up without a little help now and again.

He is a german shepherd, and it is well known for their back legs and hips to go when they get to his age

I booked him into the vets this evening, we went there fully expecting the worst. I went there expecting to have to make a horrible decision.

The vet fully examined him, pulled his legs around a bit, checked his spine, checked his hips etc etc.

It appears that he may have a spine desease, but a very minor one and one which is very common with dogs of his age and build. He is now on a course of anti-inflammatories, also he is going to have to take another type of tablet every day for the rest of his life. And those 6 monthly jabs are now going to be every 3 months instead.

He should be able to get up, unaided, once the anti-inflammotories kick in.

So, why has this made me smile.

I fully expected to be leaving the vets with only his lead and sheding a few tears. But, thankfully, I was wrong. I brought my dog home

He should be much better in a few days Very Happy

"One doughnut will provide you with 210-340 calories, 9-20 fat grams, and 16-23 grams of sugar. The problem though with Krispy Kreme doughnuts is that they are so light and airy that you just can't seem to stop at one. So multiply the above figures by two and three and four and so on and you're asking for trouble." Shocked

I know how you feel. I had the same thing with one of my dogs (dachshunds are renowned for spine problems too) - the day before we went on holiday!! I fully expected to come home to no dog but the vet put him on steroids and he is back to his old grumpy, lazy self.
