Love it.. Sooo many people warned me off and said things like 'be careful of the power' etc etc, but I haven't found it half as bad as I was expecting. Yes, you are well above the limit before you expect to be, but it doesn't feel like you've accelerated too hard, it's just smooth and manageable power delivery. Did have my first power wheelie experience about an hour ago... I may have done a little sex wee I was so excited!!
The handling is the other thing I was worried about, but once I got used to the concept of actually having to push it down rather than letting it fall like my old bike I was feeling much better. If I'm honest, I feel more confident riding the R1 than I ever did on the CBR, and hopefully that will start to reflect in my riding.
Gotta get my wrists strengthened up though, after a couple of hours my left Wrist felt like the tendons were gonna snap every time I pulled the clutch in. Just hope it gets better with time!
All in all, very very happy with the choice - an look forward to being excited about riding again for some time to come |
they are schweet aint they? Oodles of smoooooooth torque from anywhere in the rev range means you dont have to rag it to go fast!
Instead of just working on your wrists (!) start gripping the tank with your knees and hold yourself up with your stomach muscles, you're on a litre bike now! |
Or ride fast enough that the wind blast takes the weight off _________________

Not really the weight of my body pushing on them that's the problem, it's more about the angle of the clutch lever.. I seem to be reaching out at a funny angle... _________________ Not man enough for an R1....... FZ1's are cooler anyway |

Cool... Near Croix... I went round Croix as passenger on an F1 Sidecar outfit -->>
Last time I was there, I just dropped in for lunch and some UK Lotus club were putting their cars into the gravel, which incidentally, is really chunky stuff from memory, more pebbles than pea shingle. _________________
