Yeah everything has its place just the IAM/Poo Lice training seems to stop at the speed limit....

That won't help bonus corner harder Smile

Everything does have its place and if someone want to corner harder go do it on the track!!

was out for a blast the other day following a police biker i know Very Happy into a left hand bend on the right of our lane to get the best view into the bend when some wally on a gixer came flying round the bend on our side of the road!!!(limiting his vision)

now maybe if he'd had some training with bikesafe or the IAM he would not have done that, if id been in my espace id have hit him.

Another two penneths worth to this thread... i passed by das 2 years ago and bought a CB1300 2 days after passing on a CB500, i bought it because of all the bikes i tried (had me heart set on a CBR6 or hornet) it was the one that felt right for me - felt comfortable, and didn't feel the need to push is like i felt with the 600's i tried.

More pound feet you mean Wink

Just felt right because you can ride it like you would drive a car - 30mph and you can be in top.. or you can be a hooligan - almost as agile as a ped through traffic, which where i live and ride is a good thing Smile

I don't see the problem with young riders buying powerful bikes. A bike is only as fast as you choose to twist the throttle, and you've got to deliberately wind the revs up to get into the crazy power. My R6 at 4000rpm has fewer surprises in store than a commuter with torque available from the off.

Fast bikes are not crazy animals that are prone to throw you off at a moment's notice, they're obidient machines that do exactly what you tell them to do. If you tell it "140mph please, I'm on a track" then you'll get it, but if you tell it "30mph and don't bite me" then that's exactly what you'll get too. The only thing you can't ask for is for it to break the laws of physics. A newly passed rider should be able to ride an R1 in a road-legal manner and stay in absolute control and not be bitten. If they choose to wind it up and get themselves into trouble then that's their lookout, but there are plenty cheaper and more effective ways of damaging yourself.

I rode a friend's R1 a month or so after my test, recognised that it was an incredibly powerful bike and rode it well within my limits (which must have looked bloody funny to any bystanders). At that point, there was nothing that made that more dangerous than if I'd been on a CB500. You culd even argue that I was safer thanks to better tyres and brakes.

It's like standing near a cliff edge compared to standing in your living room. You have to choose to dance along the edge. Until you do, there's no extra danger.

Well all the people who who sya take it on the track I agree with... to a point. There are many different type of people in this world, and a lot of them DO watch BSB/WSB/MotoGP then try and imitate their idols on the road....

The way to make this SAFER is better training and understanding - not just police with radar guns!

My only objection is the IAM doesn't go far enough and treats these people like they are idiots.... Better to show them the right way to handle their bikes than just chastise them out of hand!
